// for new-grad interviews
Practice for a new-grad loop
A new-grad loop is several rounds in a day, and one weak round can decide it. Placed covers each kind of round and can run them back to back.
What the loop usually looks like
- An online assessment or a phone screen with one or two coding problems.
- An onsite of three to five rounds: mostly coding at medium difficulty, one behavioral.
- At some companies, a design round or an AI-assisted coding round.
This is the common shape, not any one company's process. Questions by company has what has been reported at each.
Where to start
Coding at medium difficulty
A timed problem with an interviewer who asks about complexity, edge cases and why you chose the approach.
AI-assisted coding
You get an assistant and are graded on what you ask it, whether you check its output, and whether you catch its mistakes.
The whole loop in one sitting
Coding, AI-assisted coding and behavioral back to back, with one read across all three at the end.
What changes for you
- System design is in your plan at an introductory level, with a guided mode that explains the vocabulary as you go.
- Your report compares the score to a new-grad bar.
- If you paste a resume, Pro sessions ask about your own projects.

One session for each practice day: which round, how hard, and about how long.
