Practice the timed screen

Before anyone interviews you, most companies send a timed coding assessment: several problems, one clock, and a score from test cases you mostly cannot see. Each format below draws a fresh set of problems and scores it the same way.

Not sure where you are? Take the 20-minute check

One easy problem and one medium. The result tells you which difficulty to practice first.

Start the check

How it works

  • The clock starts when you press Start and does not pause, even if you close the tab.
  • Running your code shows 2 sample tests in full. The other tests only report how many passed.
  • Each problem is worth the same and scores the share of its tests you pass, so partial solutions count.
  • There is no interviewer and there are no hints. For a problem you could not finish, the result page links to the same problem as a mock interview.
  • Languages: Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Go, Rust, C#.

Assessment due in three days?

Invites usually give you a few days. One sitting a day is enough if each one is timed.

  1. Day 1
    Find out where you are

Sit the three-problem set cold. The result shows which problems cost you the most time and which tests you missed.

    Three problems, 75 minutes
  2. Day 2
    Fix what you missed

Open each problem you did not finish as a mock interview and work it through with the interviewer. Then do two more of the same difficulty.

    Medium problems
  3. Day 3
    One full run, then stop

Sit the format closest to the one you were sent, at the time of day you plan to take the real one. Do not start anything new after it.

    Four problems, 70 minutes

The formats follow the publicly reported shape of common assessments: how many problems and how long. The problems and scoring are Placed's own and are not affiliated with any assessment vendor or employer.
