Practice for an internship loop
Internship hiring moves fast: an online assessment with a few days of notice, then one or two interviews. Placed lets you sit each of those ahead of time and tells you where you would have lost points.
What the loop usually looks like
- A timed online assessment, usually two to four problems with hidden tests.
- One or two coding interviews on easy and medium problems, talking as you go.
- A behavioral round. Your stories can come from classes, clubs, hackathons and part-time jobs.
This is the common shape, not any one company's process. Questions by company has what has been reported at each.
Where to start
Online assessment practice
Timed sets with hidden tests in the formats students report most: four problems in 70 minutes, two in 90, three in 75.
A 15-minute coding warm-up
One easy problem with a voice interviewer. The point is hearing yourself explain it.
Behavioral
Two questions with follow-ups. The interviewer is told you are interviewing for an internship and does not expect work history.
What changes for you
- Your report compares the score to a bar for internship loops, which is lower than the new-grad bar. The rubric scores themselves are the same for everyone.
- System design is left out of your plan. Intern loops rarely ask it.
- The free plan is three scored sessions a month, and assessment practice does not need an account.
