Employees Paid More Than Their Manager

EasySQLSQL

Solve this the way you would in the interview: out loud, on a timer, with an AI interviewer asking follow-ups while you code. You get a scored report at the end.

Problem

Table employees: id INTEGER primary key name TEXT salary INTEGER manager_id INTEGER the id of another row in this table, or NULL for someone with no manager Return every employee whose salary is strictly higher than their manager's salary. Columns, in this order: employee name, employee salary, manager name. Order by employee name, ascending.

Examples

Input: employees id | name | salary | manager_id 1 | Ana | 90000 | NULL 2 | Ben | 95000 | 1 3 | Cho | 70000 | 1
Output: Ben | 95000 | Ana

Constraints

  • An employee with no manager is never in the result.
  • Equal pay does not count.

What the interviewer grades

A correct solution is one of five scores. The report also grades problem understanding (did you clarify inputs and edge cases before coding), problem solving, communication while you work, code quality, and testing. See a sample report, or read up on the pattern in the lessons.
