Course Schedule

Solve this the way you would in the interview: out loud, on a timer, with an AI interviewer asking follow-ups while you code. You get a scored report at the end.

Problem

There are a total of numCourses courses you have to take, labeled from 0 to numCourses - 1. You are given an array prerequisites where prerequisites[i] = [ai, bi] indicates that you must take course bi first if you want to take course ai. Return true if you can finish all courses. Otherwise, return false.

Examples

Input: numCourses = 2, prerequisites = [[1,0]]
Output: true
Take course 0 first, then course 1.
Input: numCourses = 2, prerequisites = [[1,0],[0,1]]
Output: false
There is a cycle: course 0 depends on 1, and 1 depends on 0.

Constraints

  • 1 <= numCourses <= 2000
  • 0 <= prerequisites.length <= 5000
  • prerequisites[i].length == 2
  • 0 <= ai, bi < numCourses
  • All the pairs prerequisites[i] are unique.

What the interviewer grades

A correct solution is one of five scores. The report also grades problem understanding (did you clarify inputs and edge cases before coding), problem solving, communication while you work, code quality, and testing. See a sample report, or read up on the pattern in the lessons.
